Runner beans for lunch.
Runner beans that’s tender,
Runner beans with crunch.
Runner beans for dinner,
Runner beans for snacks.
Runner beans in boxes
And baskets and sacks.
Runner beans for weeks,
For months and for years.
They’re up to my eyeballs,
They’re up to my ears!
I used to like runner beans
But now, I’m afraid,
Their beauty at best
Is beginning to fade.
They’re lacking in lustre.
They’re now not so hot.
But that’s how it goes
On an allotment plot!
